What a community we have; who would have thought that since November 2012 God would do all He has in and through us as one body, as well as all He has done in and through each person, faithfully following Jesus and who call C3 Queenstown their home Church.
Being a Church plant, from the beginning we have had a faith-filled approach to what we do. We wanted to be known in our community for having integrity, being generous and building authentic relationships, to show people the love of Jesus. We are a people who have always given things a go, to see what God will do in and through us, when we are willing and faithful, God is faithful.
We are called to be Salt and Light - Matthew 5.13-16 (The Message)
Jesus said, “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
14-16 “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
We continue to maintain a great working relationship with all the Churches in the Wakatipu and greater lakes district, we enjoy supporting and working with our local community organisations and empowering overseas missions.
We are a Church who want people to know Jesus, find community and discover purpose - for His Glory.
Pastors Andrew and Alana Waples love people wholeheartedly, they desire for people get to know Jesus personally and to find community through genuine connection in our Church family. They are committed to seeing people grow and discover purpose and hope in their lives. They believe in building a vibrant local Church that adds value to the community of Queenstown-Lakes and beyond. Andrew and Alana both currently work part time for Church and in the community, also raising their three children Jacob (13), Elle (12) and Reuben (8).
Pastors Andrew & Alana Waples have lived in Queenstown since May 2012. Andrew grew up in Southland and lived in Queenstown before moving to Auckland to study, where he met Alana, who grew up in the Hibiscus Coast, north of Auckland.
They met in 2004, married in 2006 and based themselves on the Hibiscus Coast, starting their family whilst continuing in leadership at C3 Church Hibiscus Coast for a combined 20 years.
In 2009 they said yes to the pull on their hearts to move to Queenstown and establish a C3 Church. They spent an additional three years ministering and training in a variety of roles at C3 Church Hibiscus Coast before moving with their four children.
Nine months into starting C3 Queesntown, in August 2013 their family was devastated by the death of their 2 year, 10 month old daughter Violet, who unexpectedly wandered from their lakefront home in Kelvin Heights and drowned in Lake Wakatipu.
Ps Andrew and Alana are happy to talk about their daughter Violet and their experience of grief, the peace of God that surpasses human understanding and the hope of Heaven that we have through Jesus Christ and how keeping in step with the Holy Spirit helps to get through the tough times.
C3 Church Queenstown is part of the C3 Global Movement of Churches founded by Ps Phil and Chris Pringle. Ps Phil and Chris moved from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia in 1980 and set out to start a Church that would be contemporary, relevant and anointed.
